Hosted by the Namibia Bass Angling Association (NBAA) and sponsored by Bank Windhoek, the final event of the year that attracted 17 anglers, saw a dramatic turnaround in fishing conditions.
Although it was not the easiest of angling days, an impressive 40 fish made it to the scales.
Apart from Bothma, the other four top anglers of the day were Thinus Williams (4.699kg), Alec Williams (4.352kg), Max Pieper (4.074kg) and Richard Grant (3.936kg).
Hendrik Pretorius caught the biggest fish of the day, weighing in at 2.110kg.
According to NBAA's chairman, Richard Grant, the season was a challenging one.
“Nonetheless, our members responded with a positive attitude as they put in more time and hard work to assist in the restoration of our fisheries.
“We are now bearing the fruits of our labour and 2019 promises to be an even better year.”
The event played a pivotal role in the team selection of the anglers that will be representing Namibia at the Region V and World Black Bass Championship tournaments in 2019.
