The 4th Standard Bank K-H Xtrail is taking place today (2 June), with a number of teams participating in the event.
Taking place at Godeis Farm in the Khomas Hochland, teams entered the 16 or 7 km team challenge. The longer route started at 09:00 and the 7 km race at 09:30. The cut off time for all runners is 12:00.
According to Yvonne Brinkmann of OTB Sport who is part of the organising team behind the event, this Xtrail is part of the Standard Bank Winter Xtrail Series. “There are four Xtrails in the series and participants are ranked on their best three times,” she said.
Teams comprise of 2 or 3 members who must stay together at all times during the race. “The team must start the race together and members must cross the finish line together,” she said. Team members that are separated by more than 2 minutes during the race will receive a time penalty.
This is a trail run and the route takes place on a combination of jeep track, single track and no track. The routes are marked with bunting and the two routes do not overlap. Participants must adhere to the designated route and may not take any short cuts.
The prize giving ceremony is scheduled to take place at 12:30, just after the race. For those who will need something to eat before or after the race, the farm is selling coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well as brötchens. Later in the day they will serve steak brötchens. Cold drinks and beer will also available.
