Zybrand se ‘Vlerke Neer’ roer die hartsnoere

Zybrandt is een van die mees opwindende nuwe stemme in die Afrikaanse musiekbedryf.
Sy debuut-liedjie “Anders” wat vroeër vanjaar uitgereik is, het verskeie posisies op radio-trefferlyste gehaal. Sy tweede liedjie, “Kamoefleer”, wys op Zybrandt se musikale vaardigheid en ’n derde enkelsnit, “Vlerke Neer”, is onlangs uitgereik om voorbrand te maak vir die 5-snit EP Sneeu en Satyn, wat verlede week die lig gesien het.
Zybrandt sê dat “Vlerke Neer” vir hom die naaste aan sy hart is. “Dit is geskryf vir my vriend en musiekvervaardiger, Jeremy, se meisie, Fleur, wat in 2017 aan kanker oorlede is. Dit was ’n moeilike tyd en nou, jare later, was dit glad nie maklik om die liedjie uiteindelik op te neem en alles weer so helder te herleef nie.
“‘Vlerke Neer’ is ’n huldeblyk aan geliefdes wat die grootste oorlog baklei het, nie vir hulself nie, maar vir die wat nie ’n manier kon vind om hulle te laat gaan nie. Dit vier die herinneringe wat in ons verewig is, die impak wat dit in ons lewens gemaak het en hoe dit nooit sal verander nie. Dit is dan ook hoe ek by die idee van die video vir die liedjie uitgekom het.”
Hy sê voorts daar is ’n paar mense waarvan hy weet vir wie die liedjie ook baie beteken. “So, ek het gedink ek sal hulle vra om deel te wees. Elk moes een van die reëls van die liedjie vashou en hulle het ook die opsie gehad om dit aan iemand op te dra wat nie meer met hulle is nie. Soveel van my vriende wou deelwees; ek het in ’n kort tydjie nadat ons met alles begin het nie meer lirieke oor gehad om uit te deel nie... Dit is omtrent oorweldigend om te besef hoeveel mense hulself kan vereenselwig met die boodskap van Vlerke Neer,” het die sanger gesê.
