Murder after car crash

Yolanda Nel – A murder in Okahandja on Friday has shocked the community after two vehicles collided and a quarrel broke out between the two drivers.

According to the police report family members who heard the commotion went outside to help. One family member who became part of the argument was stabbed with a knife in the chest. He died on the scene and was identified as Daniel Nghihalwa. Two suspects were arrested and police investigations continue.

In Windhoek six guards were threatened with a knife and pistol at the Nurses Training Centre on Saturday. The alleged suspects robbed them of N$35, cellphones and a service radio. The guards were locked up in the bathroom where they were later discovered by their supervisor. No arrests have been made and police investigations continue.

A man identified as Alwyn van der Merwe died in a motor accident on Saturday five kilometers from Rehoboth. According to the police report, he lost control over his vehicle and collided into a bridge. There were no passengers travelling with him.

A retail store in Rehoboth was robbed early on Monday morning after the suspects allegedly gained access from the roof. Although they attempted to cut open the main safe, the only managed to remove the floating safe with N$15 000 in cash. According to the police report, no one has been arrested.
