Theft and drowning last weekend

A couple was allegedly held at gunpoint on Friday last week at the reservoir above the Avis dam and according to the police, they were robbed of a cellphone, a watch, bracelets and cash amounting to more than N$13 000. A helicopter was dispatched by the Namibian Police in pursuit of the suspects but no one has been arrested as yet.

Police are also investigating a death of a ten-month old baby after she drowned in Windhoek. According to a police report, the child's mother left the room for a few minutes and upon her return found the baby in a bucket of water.

In Rehoboth, police are investigating two cases of attempted murder. The suspect who has been arrested, stabbed the victim in the chest on Friday. The reason for the attack is not known. The victim, who was in critical condition, was taken to hospital.

In another incident, a man was stabbed and was found with the knife still in his back. He was taken to hospital and was later transferred to Windhoek. The suspect was arrested.

In Gobabis a case of culpable homicide is being investigated after 20-year old Augutinus Uiseb lost control of the vehicle he as driving. Uiseb died in the accident while his six passengers sustained slight injuries.
