Passion fuels precision and quality at Kalo’s Automotive Repair

Kalo’s car service workshop gears up for growth
Mamsey Musweu
Founded by Valentine Musweu, Kalo’s Automotive Repair and Spray Painting CC was born from his passion for cars. “I started the business when I realised that I can turn my passion and what I love to do into my career and make a living out of it, and the love of automotive engines and how they sound,” he says.
The business is known for top-quality work, customer-friendly prices and strong industry collaboration. “Our top-quality work keeps clients coming back, and our labour charges are customer friendly,” Musweu adds. Every job, no matter how small, is double-checked. “Doing inspection twice after every job done, whether it be just replacing a car’s light bulb, is part of our daily routine,” he explains.

Fresh start
Although Musweu also works full-time at Faical Investment CC and runs a small food business, he manages to keep Kalo’s Automotive running smoothly with help from his trained colleague. “I have a very hard-working friend and brother who I have given training to and always work with. He runs the business when I am not there,” he shares.
Each morning begins with prayer and planning. “First thing in the morning is to always start your day with prayer, then look into the tasks and jobs that need to be completed, and call clients to give them updates,” Musweu says.

Empowering others
Facing a shortage of skilled technicians, Musweu hopes to offer weekend automotive training to youth or help them enrol at vocational centres. He’s proud to empower others, saying: “It’s a good feeling to provide jobs and on-the-job training to fellow youth.”
The business continues to grow through client trust and quality service. “The business has grown quite well because more clients support us for our quality work,” he notes. Musweu plans to expand soon: “I do have plans of opening a bigger garage, by God’s grace, very soon.”
His motivation comes from family. “My son and his mother motivate me to keep going every day, and my family has supported me since the beginning,” he says.
To other entrepreneurs, Valentine’s advice is simple: “Take that risk no matter what, eventually it will all be worth it.”
