A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the City of Windhoek (CoW) and the University of Science and Technology (NUST) was approved during council meeting on Thursday.

“The purpose of the agreement is to create synergies in areas of co-operation,” read the council document. There have been agreements between the CoW and NUST in the past but the co-ordination was not streamlined, as it only focused on the tourism strategy and was not to the benefit of the City at large.

The new MoU serves to co-ordinate and structure the areas of co-operation through the alignment of strategic plans and improved service delivery. The areas of co-operation include research and development, economic advancement, urban transport, adequate housing and public participation, to name a few.
