Nearly N$1 million was raised at the Brave Warriors' World Cup gala dinner
The Brave Warriors’ quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup received a major boost as nearly N$1 million was raised during a high-profile fundraising gala dinner held in Windhoek. The event brought together government leaders, corporate Namibia, and football supporters under the unifying theme “One Team, One Dream, One Nation.”A total of N$978,399.30 was raised on the night, a powerful demonstration of national commitment to supporting Namibia’s journey to football’s grandest stage.
The gala served as a powerful reminder of the nation’s collective ambition to see Namibia’s national team on football’s biggest stage, highlighting the vital financial and emotional support needed to realize this historic goal.
President calls for unity and support
In a stirring address, Her Excellency Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of Namibia, rallied the nation behind the Brave Warriors. She emphasized sport’s unique ability to unify the country, calling on every Namibian to contribute toward the campaign.
“Our Brave Warriors are only four months away from potentially making history,” said the President. “This journey demands dedication, resources, and most importantly, unity. Together — government, private sector, football fraternity, and the public — we can achieve this cherished dream.” Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sport as the country’s second highest priority, as outlined in the newly launched Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6).
“Sport is not just an end in itself, but an enabler for national development,” she said.
Corporate Namibia and football fraternity rally
The event spotlighted the vital role of corporate partnerships in supporting the campaign. FNB Namibia, which pledged N$500,000 earlier this year, was recognized for its significant contribution. FNB Retail CEO Nangula Kauluma urged other companies to join in:
“Corporate Namibia must step up to back our Brave Warriors. This is a national cause that deserves all our support.”
The gala also acknowledged ongoing support from sponsors including Toyota South Africa Motors, which recently launched an SMS competition offering a brand-new car as a prize to help raise funds for the campaign.
Campaign committee’s message to Namibians
Chairperson of the campaign committee, Tim Ekandjo, expressed gratitude to all supporters and encouraged every Namibian to participate actively:
“Every contribution, big or small, strengthens our team’s chances. The road to the World Cup is tough, but with united backing, our Brave Warriors can triumph.”
A nation’s dream
With N$978,399.30 raised in one evening and growing momentum across the country, the Brave Warriors’ road to the World Cup is beginning to look like a true national movement.
