The minister of health and social services, Dr Kalumbi Shangula, says Namibia is not considering imposing travel restrictions on China at the moment.
Shangula was approached by Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) to comment on a growing number of countries which have taken restrictive steps following a surge in Covid-19 cases in China following the country’s abrupt ending of its zero-Covid policy.
Shangula told NMH that the government has been monitoring the Covid situation worldwide since easing its Covid own measures. Government is aware of the increase in Covid-19 cases in some countries in the world, he said.
“We are monitoring the situation and are not considering new steps at the moment,” he said.
According to Shangula, Covid-19 cases are still reported in Namibia, especially in Khomas and Erongo. About two to three cases are reported per day in these regions.
