Grow your own with Plot to Plate

Plot to Plate, an initiative of the Capricorn Foundation, has launched a free, open-access online video course aimed at equipping Namibians with the skills and knowledge to grow their own food, improve household and community resilience, and contribute to national food security.
The course introduces participants to the fundamentals of permaculture – a holistic approach to gardening and food production that works with nature to create sustainable and productive systems. Designed as an accessible, entry-level programme, it provides practical guidance to help learners start their own food-growing journey.
Through 14 engaging video lessons, interactive quizzes, and hands-on tips, participants will learn how to design and maintain thriving gardens, conserve water, improve soil health, and grow nutritious food in urban backyards, rural homesteads, or community gardens across Namibia’s varied climates.
“Food security is one of the most pressing challenges in Namibia. By giving people the tools and knowledge to grow food sustainably, Plot to Plate is helping communities become more self-reliant, reduce waste, and protect natural resources for future generations,” said Marlize Horn, Executive Officer of the Capricorn Foundation.
The course is open to all with an interest in sustainability, agriculture, and regenerative food-growing practices. Learners can register online and progress at their own pace: https://learn.living-earth.africa
Plot to Plate is part of the Capricorn Foundation’s Proof of Concept initiative, following the success of its Food Waste Challenges in 2022 and 2023.
