Acclaimed French pianist to perform in Namibia

David Greilsammer, one of the most famous French pianists of his time, will perform at the National Theater (NTN) next month.
The Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) has taken hands with the National Theatre and RMB Namibia to make this exciting event possible.
Grielsammer's concert in Windhoek is part of a SADC tour consisting of performances in Namibia and Angola with which this pianist aims to offer high-quality classical concerts and educational activities for young people. These activities include master classes and workshops with music teachers and their young students.
Greilsammer is recognised as one of the most daring pianists and conductors of today's classical world, and is passionate about innovative projects, creation and the bridging of cultures. His solo performances, which always offer eclectic and surprising musical experiences, have been performed across prestigious concert halls around the world.
The Frenchman's latest album, Labyrinth, received more than twenty international awards and has been praised by the international media as "brave", "visionary" and "incredible". His other recent albums have won numerous awards, including from the New York Times, the Boston Globe and the Sunday Times.
In addition to his groundbreaking performances, ranging from baroque to contemporary music, Greilsamer is also known for his renditions of Mozart's work. He has performed all of Mozart's piano sonatas in Paris in a one-day "marathon", and he has also played and conducted all of Mozart's twenty-seven piano concertos in one concert season.
Greilsammer's concert in the capital is sponsored by the airlines Air France and KLM, and will take place on Friday 8 July at 20:00 at NTN. Tickets are available at N$250 via Webtickets (online and at Pick n Pay stores). In addition, a masterclass for Namibian-based musicians will be presented at the theatre on 7 July.
