Applause for St. George’s!

Namibians are bursting with pride after St George’s Senior Primary School Choir made history by becoming the first Namibian primary school choir to win a category in the prestigious ATKV Applous finals in Pretoria, South Africa.
The choir won gold in the open primary school category in the genre of sacred music with choir leader Jolanda Amoral, accompanist Ebbie Becker, percussionist Osmond !Owoseb and songs arranged by Greg Gilpin and Herold Osmond !Owoseb.
Namibia was also represented in this category by Walvis Bay Gymnasium in the genre of traditional African music with choir leader Otniël Tjombe, accompanist Lindie van Zyl, djembe Otniël Tjombe and shakers Nangula Amatsi and Zara Kufuna. The traditional Xhosa and Tswana songs were arranged by Roger Nautoro, Phela Mogotsi and Otniël Tjombe.
