Bellhaus merges talents

KOLO – a mesmerizing blend of artistic narratives that transport viewers on a journey transcending boundaries and bridging generation by three visionary artists—Heidi Louw, Kudzanai Katerere, and Marcii Magson, opened at the Bellhaus Atelier & Galerie last night, seamlessly merging their talents, guided by harmonious rhythms of brushstrokes, woven threads, and sculptor's chisel.
Through delicate balances between stillness and narrative tension, Heidi Louw's artwork delves into domestic rituals and identity exploration, inviting viewers to contemplate themes of time, mortality, and the transient nature of beauty and decay. Her exquisite still life compositions act as vessels guiding introspection into the unseen narratives woven within her canvases.
In celebration of a decade of showcasing art in Namibia, Kudzanai Katerere's Special Collection pays homage to historical lore, love, and artistic finesse through a curated array of sculptures. Each sculpted masterpiece poetically portrays a stride within the artist's creative journey, inviting all to immerse themselves in the profound narratives interwoven into each artwork.
Marcii Magson's Swakara carpets serve as repositories of intricate graphical narratives, capturing the delicate equilibrium and essence of the word "Kolo" within her circular design lexicon. Her creations challenge conventional carpet artistry, infusing a transcendent vitality and three-dimensional allure that ignite transformative expressions within the landscape of textile design.
Magson's adoration for wool has matured into a profound passion, flourishing through her inspiring collaboration with The Mill in Stampriet—an establishment dedicated to revitalising the Swakara wool industry in Namibia while fostering employment opportunities for Namibian men and women. Their steadfast dedication to excellence shines through as they rigorously uphold production standards, unwavering in their refusal to compromise on the methods, costs, or labour involved in crafting exquisite heirloom-quality carpets and art pieces from wool. A selection of these masterpieces will be showcased at the upcoming KOLO exhibition, inviting guests to marvel at the intricate beauty woven into each creation.
The KOLO exhibition embodies the cultural significance of the traditional dance of Kolo, fostering a sense of community and cultural identity within the art space.
