Choral Festival makes a return

Namibian voices join forces for the second edition of the Bank Windhoek Choral Celebration, set for 6 and 7 June at the Windhoek High School Hall.
This year's celebration focuses on capacity-building, featuring a rich two-day programme with workshops, choir clinics, and a public concert. It aims to elevate local choral talent and provide a platform for musical development.
A highlight of the 2025 edition is the participation of esteemed South African conductor Renette Bouwer, formerly of the award-winning University of Johannesburg Choir.
Bouwer will lead a workshop for local choral conductors on Friday, 6 June, and conduct one-on-one clinics with selected choirs. Conductors wishing to attend the workshop must register by Tuesday, 3 June 2025, by emailing: [email protected]. Space is limited to 100 participants.
On Saturday, the event continues with exclusive choral clinics for three featured groups: Healing Vocals, Windhoek Gymnasium School Choir, and Namib Camerata Choir. Bouwer will work closely with each ensemble to refine vocal technique and interpretative skill, applying methods taught during the previous day’s workshop.
The celebration will culminate in the Bank Windhoek Choral Celebration Concert on Saturday at 18:00, also at the Windhoek High School Hall. Tickets are available through Webtickets for N$50 per person.
Bank Windhoek’s Head of Stakeholder Engagement, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sponsorships, Bronwyn Moody, said the initiative reinforces the bank’s commitment to promoting the arts. “This celebration highlights our continued investment in creativity and cultural expression. Bank Windhoek has long supported visual and performing arts, and this initiative builds on our mission to nurture local talent and foster collaboration,” she said.
An annual feature on the Bank’s sponsorship calendar, the Choral Celebration showcases diverse Namibian choirs and celebrates the unifying power of music in building community and cultural identity.
