Fraitaxtsēs sores tsîn ge ra≠gâ
The Project Room team looks forward to hosting you at the Namibian Arts Association (NAA) for the book launch and exhibition opening Fraitaxtsēs sores tsîn ge ra≠gâ, - Ondjembo yo Null Vier. The event and exhibition by Ixmucané Aguilar features guest speakers, performances, a book exhibition, and a live music set.
For the book-as-documentary, visual artist Ixmucané Aguilar worked in close collaboration with Nama and OvaHerero people, who recall memories and rituals of mourning caused by the loss of life and land during Imperial Germany’s occupation.
It is an artistic photography documentary which presents a multi-layered portrait of the genocide and its aftereffects.
The event includes contributions by human rights attorney Wolfgang Kaleck and the curator of the work Tristan Pranyko, along with poetry by Namibian artists Nesindano Namise (Khoes), Fritz Isak Dirkse and Prince Kamaazengi.
The opening and launch take place at 18:00 on Thursday 9 November at the Namibian Arts Association at 122 Robert Mugabe Ave.
The exhibition can be viewed until 25 November.
