Film festival invites keen talent

Keen filmmakers have until 4 April to enter their one-minute short films for the Africa Mobile Film Festival.
"African stories must be told by African people to an African audience," says festival founder, Bruno Smadja.
Since the festival began in 2005, it aims to provide equal access to filmmakers by allowing the use of mobile phones and free registration. However, a requirement is that those who enroll must be resident in a country in Africa.
This is the second time that this festival has entertained African audiences after the inaugural event received the support of 600 institutions from 45 African countries and more than 500 short films from 38 African countries were entered.
These films are still available on the Africa Mobile Film Festival platforms and have so far attracted almost 14 million viewers.
This year the festival will again be presented online from 3 to 31 May.
On 8 June, the awards will be handed out for, among others, the African Grand Prize, the Moroccan Grand Prize, the award for the best French film, the ACP-EU Culture Prize, prizes for the best actor and actress, as well as for the best female director and the best documentary film.
The prize money has a combined value of U$46 000.
