Namibian documentary to screened in Germany; USA to follow
The Namibian documentary Guardians of Eden was screened at the Green Screen Festival during the International Wildlife Film Festival in Eckernförde, Germany, last weekend. The screening of the film, directed by Namibian filmmaker Jana von Hase, was reportedly sold out. Von Hase and Kelsey Prediger, director of the Pangolin Conservation & Research Foundation, whose work is featured in the film, attended the event and engaged with the audience during a Q&A session.
“The film was very well received. It was the first time it was shown in Europe,” Prediger said. “Soon it will make its way to North America, where it will be part of the final selection for the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival. It’s great to bring Namibia’s community-based conservation to the world.”
The Wildlife Conservation Film Festival is a New York-based international event that promotes sustainability and biodiversity conservation through interactive screenings and discussions. This year, it will take place from 18 to 21 September in Monterrey, Mexico.
Guardians of Eden is a tribute to the guardians of Namibia’s savannah – the rangers and trackers dedicated to conserving the black rhino and the endangered pangolin. The film has already received international recognition, having won the Gold Award at the International Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA) in Johannesburg.
