Youth empowered with digital content skills at masterclass
Thirty youth micro-entrepreneurs gained essential digital marketing and content creation skills during a full-day masterclass hosted by the One Economy Foundation’s Youth Opportunity (YO!) pillar, in partnership with MultiChoice Namibia.
Held under the theme “Passion to Pixels to Profit”, the event focused on equipping young entrepreneurs with practical skills in content strategy, storytelling, branding, and social media monetisation.
The masterclass featured industry experts who shared tools and techniques to help participants build authentic digital brands, generate income, and navigate Namibia’s growing digital economy.
Betty Sibeso, Chief Creative Officer at Beso Media, led a session on digital content strategies. “The best way for a founder to show up online is to be as authentic as the solutions they offer,” she said. Sibeso stressed the importance of planning content around clear goals, themes, and target audiences.
Nrupesh Soni, founder of Facilit8 Namibia, introduced user-friendly AI tools and content planning apps such as Buffer, Later, Meta Suite and Crowdfire. He emphasised focusing on two or three key platforms, and using analytics tools like Google Trends, Social Blade, and Meta Business Suite to track engagement.
Paulo Coelho of FoxGlove Digital guided participants on building strong brand identities. “A strong brand isn’t just what you post; it’s the experience you build around your story,” he said. Coelho encouraged attendees to take control of their brand narrative through authenticity and consistency.
Mufaro Nesongano, executive for communication and consumer relations at CRAN, addressed ethical and legal considerations. He reminded entrepreneurs that while digital platforms offer reach, responsible content builds long-term trust. “One post can damage your business or break the law,” he cautioned.
The event is the first of two regional masterclasses planned for 2025, with the next scheduled for August in the Erongo Region. It forms part of a broader initiative funded by Big Win Philanthropy, aimed at creating inclusive economic opportunities for Namibian youth.
By investing in digital skills, the One Economy Foundation continues its mission to empower young entrepreneurs and close opportunity gaps across the country.
