Three decades of sound celebrated with Ras Sheehama

A spectacular collaboration is set to unfold as creative director and filmmaker, Othilia Tutu Mungoba teams up with musical curator Christian Polloni to present a visual documentation and musical grand spectacle, "Ras Sheehama: 3 Decades of Sound".
Endorsed by the esteemed Friends of Ras Sheehama Trust, this masterpiece pays homage to the illustrious career of Namibia's cherished musician and performer, Ras Sheehama, whose work spans over three decades. Pioneering reggae in Namibia since the 1990s, Ras Sheehama's distinct blend of reggae, Afro-fusion, and traditional Namibian musical elements has solidified his place as a trailblazer of note in the local music landscape.
The stage will be graced by a multitude of local talents representing various artistic disciplines, promising an unforgettable journey through Ras Sheehama's musical legacy. With the innovative remixing skills of DJ Kboz to the soulful melodies of Big Ben to the electrifying performances of Sally Boss Madam and Exit Rockaz, the lineup boasts an array of talent including ML, Ethnix, Patrick Sikiliza, North Side Rabbi, Equipped Dance Academy and Vocal Redemption.
Attendees can expect an immersive experience featuring dance, poetry, music video inserts, and exhilarating live band performances, covering classics like "Cassinga", "Travelling" and "Inotila" to contemporary tunes such as "Polo Polo.
Enhancing the allure of the event is visual artist Hage Mukwendje, whose artwork captures the essence of Ras Sheehama's contribution to the Namibian music scene. This masterpiece will find a new home by way of an auction, offering patrons a chance to own a piece of art in memory of the great musician.
Slated for 5 and 6 April 2024 at the Nampower Convention Centre, for those unable to join in person, the event will be streamed live for a truly immersive experience. Tickets are available via webtickets.com.na starting from N$150.
