Bank Windhoek has reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to Namibian sport after being confirmed as the Title Sponsor of the upcoming Bank Windhoek National Senior Track and Field Championship.

The sponsorship further strengthens the bank’s role in supporting local athletics and creating pathways for athletes to progress from grassroots level to elite competition, both nationally and internationally.

The championship, scheduled for 26–27 April 2026 in Windhoek, will benefit from a N$150,000 investment from Bank Windhoek towards event preparations. The funding is expected to enhance high-performance competition, support talent identification, and contribute to the continued strengthening of athletics structures that feed into the national development pipeline.

Athletics remains one of the country’s most accessible sports, playing a key role in youth development by promoting discipline, resilience, and healthy lifestyles. It also provides a structured pathway for athletes to progress from school competitions to national and international stages.

Bank Windhoek’s Head of Strategic Partnerships and Corporate Social Responsibility, Bronwyn Moody, said the institution is committed to investing in initiatives that contribute to national progress.

“By supporting Athletics Namibia and the National Senior Track and Field Championship, we are helping to create a platform where athletes can test themselves, improve performance, and take the next step in their sporting journeys,” Moody said.

Athletics Namibia Secretary General Madeleine Kotze welcomed the sponsorship, highlighting its importance to the successful staging of the championship.

“The support from Bank Windhoek is instrumental in ensuring a well-organised championship that provides the right competitive environment for our athletes. Partnerships like these contribute directly to sports development and help us continue building athletics nationwide,” Kotze said.

Bank Windhoek noted that its investment in athletics forms part of a broader strategy aimed at community upliftment and youth empowerment. The bank emphasised that supporting well-structured sporting competitions helps strengthen the overall sports ecosystem, benefiting athletes, coaches, and administrators alike.

Moody added that through targeted sponsorships and partnerships, Bank Windhoek continues to invest in programmes that enable young people to thrive, promote healthy lifestyles, and foster national pride through sport.

Members of the public, stakeholders, and the media have been encouraged to attend the championship and follow updates from Athletics Namibia throughout the event.

Athletics Namibia, the national governing body for the sport, is responsible for the administration and development of athletics in the country. The federation continues to focus on growing participation, developing athletes and technical officials, and creating competitive opportunities that support excellence in the sport.
