Promoting savings and investment for financial security

Another Inspire session held
Creating financial security requires an understanding of savings and investment concepts and strategies, and for those unfamiliar with investing, knowing where to start can be a challenge. Capricorn Group and Capricorn Asset Management, on Friday, 4 November, hosted an introductory discussion on savings and investments specifically catered to first-time and novice investors, under the Group’s Inspire banner.
The Inspire public session, which took place at Namibia Institute of Public Admin and Management (NIPAM), was themed “Smart Money Moves” and was presented by a panel of investment specialists from the Capricorn Asset Management (CAM) team.
“As a Namibian-owned financial institution, Capricorn Group goes the extra mile to ensure that we drive key discussions, through the sharing of knowledge and diverse points, to help our stakeholders to nurture sustainable opportunities in their businesses and personal lives. A session of this nature improves the financial literacy of the communities in which we operate, equipping people to take complex financial decisions, sufficiently plan ahead, and improve their understanding of investment concepts,” said Marlize Horn, Group Executive: Brand & Corporate Affairs
Speakers, Floris Bergh, Shuutheni Shivute and Elina Shikomba, shared concepts and tips on saving options, assessing financial situations, drafting investment plans, defining financial goals, risk tolerance and assets to an audience of about 120 guests and many more who joined online.
“Remember that time is your friend, and inflation your enemy. You can fight inflation by starting your savings and investment journey early,” Chief Economist at CAM, Floris Bergh, said.
The Group’s Inspire sessions are thought-provoking thought leadership information sessions geared towards inspiring our employees, stakeholders and the public by stirring up conversations with mind-shifting potential. Capricorn Group has, over the years, become synonymous with these Inspire events, featuring well-known thought leaders in the past. This is the 14th Inspire session over five years.
