The CYMOT group celebrated a major milestone last week when the hosted their traditional German "Richtfest" at their new development at the Hilltop Estate in Kleine Kuppe. The festivities were hosted together with their partner Namibia Construction.
A "Richtfest" entails the hanging of a wreath on the rafters of a new building, symbolising the completion of the roof structure.
Namibia Construction and CYMOT are two of the largest and most successful Namibian-owned companies and have contributed significantly to the success and growth of the “Land of the Brave” over many years, Axel Theissen, Chairman of the CYMOT Group explained.
According to him, the plan is for shoppers to be able to visit the new branch as early as Christmas. Currently, the project is approximately 65% complete and the CYMOT flagship store is scheduled to open by mid-October.
Theissen also announced that they would complete this turnkey project in a record time of just 2 years and 10 days!
Hans-Peter Schulz, Managing Director of Namibia Construction, said he was pleased to have been selected alongside numerous Namibian subcontractors for this prestigious project. He said that once complete, 4,545 m³ of concrete, 450 tons of masonry and around 595 000 bricks will have been used for this project.
The specially developed and unique steel structure of the roof alone weighs 70 tons.
