OM SEED: Meet Kunene’s top innovators

Joseph Nauiseb, founder of JNZ Trading Enterprises, claimed first place in the Old Mutual Sustainable, Economic and Empowerment Drive (OM SEED) Kunene round for his welding, metal fabrication, carpentry and joinery business that delivers top-quality craftsmanship to meet both community and commercial needs.
In second place was Tina Jeremia, owner of Teumu TKJ Trading Enterprises cc, known for her unique combination of crocheting and catering, showcasing both artistic talent and service excellence, while third place went to Tweyanombili Shiyekuta, founder of Tweya Innovation. His enterprise repurposes old tyres into durable furniture, merging environmental sustainability with innovation.
This year’s OM SEED initiative, under the theme “Rooted in Growth for Sustainability,” saw 116 applications the Omaheke, Otjozondjupa, Omusati and Kunene regions. Shortlisting and final evaluations were conducted in partnership with the Financial Literacy Initiative (FLI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), ensuring a fair and impactful process.

Since its inception, OM SEED has invested in and mentored over 40 grassroots entrepreneurs, providing seed capital, business training, and ongoing support to help turn ideas into thriving businesses. The programme has strengthened local economies, driven job creation, and sparked skills development and social impact nationwide.
