Support for Brand Namibia journey
Information Minister Emma Theofelus recently hosted a two-day Brand Namibia strategy development workshop in partnership with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), bringing together stakeholders to craft an official Brand Namibia strategy – one that will position the country as a nation defined by its people, values, and unique offerings.
O&L Leisure supported the initiative by hosting the workshop at Midgard, sponsoring the conference venue, all catering requirements, and providing preferential accommodation rates for delegates.
A clearly defined national brand shapes the country’s reputation, credibility and appeal in the eyes of the world, helping to attract tourism, trade and investment. As Namibia stakes its claim not only across Africa but globally, a distinctive and purposeful national identity has never been more important. A strong Brand Namibia gives the world a reason to visit, invest in, and champion this extraordinary country. Equally, it gives Namibians the tools and pride to own and share their story.
Maryke van Lill, marketing general manager at O&L Leisure, welcomed the development. “We recognise the potential a well-executed national brand holds for Namibia, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead if it is implemented with the care and commitment it deserves.”
“At O&L Leisure, we know the power of authentic storytelling – our ‘Namibia through our eyes’ platform was born from that belief. It has allowed us to showcase the soul of our country: its landscapes, its people, and its spirit. Brand Namibia aims to do the same on a national scale, and we are fully behind that vision.”
Van Lill also highlighted the link between a strong national brand and tourism. “Tourism and investment go hand in hand. A visitor who experiences Namibia first-hand may also see the potential to invest, having fallen in love with the country’s beauty and opportunities. Brand Namibia can create a virtuous cycle of visits, investment, and growth that benefits every corner of the country.”
