Suspected fraudulent activities at GIPF

Two staff members suspended
The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has detected possible fraudulent activities pertaining to payments made to beneficiaries and has launched an internal investigation.
As a result, the fund suspended two staff members to ensure the investigation goes ahead unhindered.
According to Edwin Tjiramba, GM of marketing and stakeholder engagement, the fund has zero tolerance for unlawful conduct or any form of dishonesty, fraud, theft, and corruption.
"We are committed to working diligently to root out fraud and corruption of any kind. Please be assured that management has committed itself to ensure that the investigation receives the urgency it deserves."
He said that the fund has developed and implemented an organisation-wide ethics management programme which includes a whistle-blower platform (the GIPF Ethics Helpdesk) which is aimed at enhancing a culture of zero tolerance towards unlawful and unethical conduct.
