N/a’an ku sê and San represented at summit in England
The Harmony Summit on Indigenous Knowledge and Conservation is taking place in England today, with Namibia represented by Marlice van Vuuren, director of the N/a’an ku sê Foundation, and #Oma /Kunta from the San community. At the summit, Van Vuuren and /Kunta will have the honour of meeting with King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and will engage with indigenous leaders and conservationists from around the world to discuss how humanity can live more sustainably.
The Harmony Summit aims to highlight ancient knowledge, survival wisdom, and sustainable practices from cultures deeply connected to nature.
As a representative of Namibia's first people, #Oma /Kunta will convey the San's ancient understanding of living in balance with the environment, according to N/a’an ku sê – a perspective shaped by thousands of years of coexistence with nature in Namibia.
The summit is taking place at Highgrove House, the country estate of King Charles III near Tetbury in Gloucestershire.
Van Vuuren and /Kunta travelled to London on 1 July, after receiving a ceremonial farewell from students of the N/a’an ku sê schools at Hosea Kutako Airport.
