Boost for skills development at Windhoek VTC
The Windhoek Vocational Training Centre (WVTC) today received a significant boost in its mission to equip the youth with practical, industry-ready skills thanks to donations from M&Z Motors and the Social Security Commission (SSC).M&Z Motors donated two vehicles to the Automotive Mechatronics workshop, while the SSC provided welding and boilermaking equipment to enhance training capacity in technical trades.
“These donations are catalysts for transformation,” Khomas governor Sam Nujoma noted, commending both organisations for their commitment to education and skills development. “With these new additions, trainees will now be able to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, gaining a robust and comprehensive understanding of modern automotive and industrial systems.”
The vehicles will allow automotive mechatronics trainees to gain hands-on experience aligned with industry standards, while the welding and boilermaking tools will strengthen the WVTC’s technical training for industrial and manufacturing sectors.
The contributions are also in line with Namibia’s Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6), which emphasises skills development as a driver of industrialisation, youth empowerment, and economic growth.
Calling on other stakeholders to follow suit, Nujoma highlighted that Namibia’s youth are eager, talented, and ready to work, but they need resources, tools and opportunities.
“Through these donations and collaborative efforts such as this, we can empower them to become the skilled workforce that Namibia needs to achieve the targets of NDP6 and beyond,” he said.
WVTC trainees were urged to make full use of the new resources to sharpen their skills and contribute meaningfully to national development.
