Capricorn strengthens education for marginalised communities

The Capricorn Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to improving education in Namibia, particularly for vulnerable and marginalised communities. Investing N$1.8 million in 2025, the foundation supports initiatives that promote access to quality education and leadership training.
Partnering with organisations such as the African Leadership Institute (ALI), SPES Charity, Development Workshop, Learn on One and Edu-Light, the foundation continues to make a lasting impact across the country.
“Our education portfolio aims to help Namibian learners and teachers succeed, regardless of background,” said Marlize Horn, Executive Officer of the Capricorn Foundation.
Through ALI, 20 public school principals and heads of departments will undergo leadership training, funded with N$480 000. One beneficiary, Mrs September, Principal of Namib High School, praised the programme, saying it “reignited [her] passion” and enhanced her leadership skills.
The foundation also supports Learn on One with N$200 000, helping deliver televised lessons aligned with the national curriculum to learners in remote areas.
SPES Charity received N$300 000 to aid its efforts in supporting underprivileged children through food provision, preschool development and emotional care. Over 17 years, SPES has delivered food and educational activities to promote holistic child development.
In Rehoboth, the Development Workshop’s Play for All Programme received N$543 000 to improve early childhood development infrastructure, including classrooms, toilets and playgrounds. Funds also support parental engagement and educator training.
Through Edu-Light, the foundation provided N$300 000 to distribute solar-powered lights to 1 200 learners in off-grid areas, enabling safe nighttime study.
