DHPS welcomes Grade 1s
The Deutsche Höhere Privatschule Windhoek (DHPS) welcomed 87 excited first-graders on their first day of school, each carrying a traditional school cone and brimming with curiosity. The enrolment ceremony emphasised a simple but important message: school is not about knowing everything from the start, but about growing step by step. DHPS principal Jörg Przybilla reassured the young learners, saying: “We take care of you – we are here for you.” At DHPS, learning is designed to be enjoyable, safe and supportive, allowing children to discover new things and develop their talents.
The ceremony featured a performance by Grade 4 learners, who shared what they love most about their school: lessons, friendships, playgrounds, and, of course, the breaks.
Pastor Schütte, attending both as a parent and in his pastoral role, offered a short devotional speech, adding a personal touch to the occasion.
Deputy Minister of Education Dino Ballotti also addressed the audience, impressing with his German language skills and praising DHPS as “one of the best schools in Namibia”.
The event highlighted that DHPS is more than a school; it is a community that warmly welcomes children and supports them on their individual learning journeys. The new first-graders can now begin their school adventure with excitement, eagerness and confidence.
