German-speaking learners impress with words

The national Kurt Böhme Speaking Competition was held at the DHPS recently where young speakers from various Namibian schools impressed with their talents.
The grade 9 and 11 learners did not make it easy for the judges Dr Andreas Götze (German Embassy Windhoek), Naita Hishoono (Namibia Institute for Democracy), Erika von Wietersheim (journalist and author) and Jasko Rust (Hitradio Namibia).
Gabriele Ritzdorf (DHPS, topic: “Trophy hunting – killing for fun?”) impressed the judges in the grade 9 junior category, with Arik Blatt (Private School Swakopmund, topic: “True/Product Beauty”) raking second and Kai Precht (PSS, topic: “Trophy hunting”) taking third spot.
In the grade 11 senior category, DHPS learner Maike Metzger took first place with her speech on “Happiness as the goal in life”, while Daniel Koch (DHPS, topic: “Unconditional basic income”) ranked second and Ndeshimona Huzatijke (Delta Secondary School Windhoek, topic: “I’m sorry, no time”) won third place.
Congratulations to the winners!
