Job opportunities for school leavers

In response to the persistently high unemployment rate among young people in Namibia, the Capricorn Foundation has pledged to invest N$1 million in Bank Windhoek's Young Talent Programme.
The funds are earmarked for The Capricorn Academy for School Leavers, a new initiative under Bank Windhoek's overarching Young Talent Programme. The academy aims to address the pressing issue of youth unemployment by providing training and employment opportunities for promising young Namibians.
According to statistics, the youth unemployment rate in Namibia remained around 38.41% in 2023 compared to the previous year. Recognising the urgency of this national challenge, the Capricorn Foundation has committed to funding The Capricorn Academy for School Leavers.
The academy offers ten graduates from the grade 12 class of 2023 the opportunity to join Bank Windhoek for an 18-month comprehensive training and job placement programme. During this period, participants will receive training across various banking disciplines, learn from professionals in Windhoek, and subsequently be placed at selected Bank Windhoek branches nationwide.
Positions are available in Aranos, Karasburg, Oranjemund, Lüderitz, Opuwo, Oshifo, Katima Mulilo, Mariental and Ondangwa.
"The Capricorn Academy for School Leavers aims to equip and empower young school leavers with the necessary skills and experiences to build successful careers," said Marlize Horn, Executive Officer of the Capricorn Foundation. "Through this initiative, we hope to contribute to reducing youth unemployment and fostering economic empowerment among Namibia's youth."
The programme is open to graduates who obtained their grade 12 certification in 2023 with 25 points, and they must have taken commercial subjects such as Mathematics, Accounting, Business Economics, Economics, Business Studies, or Entrepreneurship.
Applicants who meet the criteria can apply at their nearest Bank Windhoek branch or download the application form from the Bank Windhoek website. The deadline for applications is 15 May 2024.
