Ongoing school furniture repairs bring relief to Okahandja schools
Ongoing repair works on school furniture are bringing much-needed relief to several schools in Okahandja, thanks to a social responsibility initiative by Absolute Engineering Enterprise CC.The programme began at Okahandja Project School and is set to roll out to Aurora Primary School, Okahandja Secondary School, K.J. Kapeua Combined School in Ovitoto and Otjosondu Primary School. The repairs focus on damaged tables, lockers, chairs and hostel beds, which have long affected teaching and learning conditions.
Despite limited resources and the lack of a proper workshop, the company has continued with the repairs at no cost to schools with hostel facilities. The situation has once again highlighted the need for an SME Park in Okahandja, as many skilled artisans, including metal fabricators, panel beaters, mechanics and carpenters, currently operate from backyard garages, particularly in the Nau-Aib area.
The initiative’s organiser has appealed to the newly elected councillors to prioritise the establishment of an SME Park to provide decent working spaces, create employment and strengthen the local economy.
Nevertheless, the company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education and improving learning environments for learners in Okahandja and surrounding areas.
