Ruth Albrecht school benefits as ACDT hands over booklets
The African Child Development Trust (ACDT) handed over educational booklets to Ruth Albrecht Rainbow School in Windhoek as part of its nationwide drive to distribute 60 000 free early childhood learning materials every month. The initiative, which covers all 14 regions, is made possible through a longstanding partnership with the Capricorn Foundation, which will continue for the next four years.Speaking at the handover, Sharnay Botha, a representative of ACDT, expressed gratitude for the support. “We are here at Ruth Albrecht Rainbow School to celebrate our continuing partnership with the Capricorn Foundation,” she said. “We are so grateful to them.”
Since the collaboration began, the trust has distributed more than 14 million books across Namibia, targeting Grade 1 to Grade 3 learners to help build critical early learning skills.
The Capricorn Foundation, which has supported the ACDT project for years, reaffirmed its commitment to education and uplifting vulnerable communities.
“Our African Child Development Trust project was one of the first that the Capricorn Foundation partnered with back in 2015,” said Veripura Muukua, Head of the Capricorn Foundation. “The project falls under our education focus. We are really proud of this partnership, and it shows the kind of impact we can make collectively in our communities.”
She added that the partnership is not only an investment in the present, but also in the future of Namibia’s children.
The Capricorn Foundation has committed N$600 000 to fund the project, ensuring the continued rollout of booklets that will help thousands of children gain a stronger educational foundation. Teachers at Ruth Albrecht Rainbow School welcomed the handover, noting that the booklets would ease classroom resource shortages and encourage children to develop a love for reading from an early age. - [email protected]
