WIS students earn MYP eAssessment results

Windhoek International School students have become the first in Namibia to complete the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) eAssessment, replacing the school’s former IGCSE examinations.
Margarete Reiff, WIS high school principal and college counsellor, stated, “The MYP is recognised internationally and benchmarked by the UK’s ECCTIS as equivalent to IGCSE grades.”
In assessments which are out of 7, in this inaugural year WIS scored an average grade of 4.7 (5.2 for certificate earners) and achieved an average score of 37.74 (world average: 37.71). The highest score achieved was 49/56.
WIS MYP coordinator Adrian von Wrede-Jervis said, “the MYP assesses not just what students know, but how they apply it. Independent studies by NFER and ACER show that the MYP develops independent learners, critical thinkers, and active global citizens, and better prepares students for the IB Diploma than equivalent courses.”
“This milestone expands opportunities for Namibian students to pursue a globally recognised qualification that goes far beyond memorisation,” said WIS director, Ethan van Drunen.
