First pangolin of the year equipped with satellite

The Pangolin Conservation and Research Foundation announced that they have equipped the first wild pangolin for the year with a satellite monitoring device.
"After weeks of rain and conflict with elephants, the team is proud of the hard work that led us to this result," the foundation said. "Our ranger team received a call from a local community who had found a fresh lead. Our rangers are all born and raised in local communities, supporting the very people who live there and protect wildlife."
The pangolin will be known as NN09 and is a large adult male weighing 12.6kg. "This monitoring is part of a regional project funded by WWF-Namibia to better understand the transboundary ecology and behaviour of the species. It is important to learn more about the species to make informed conservation planning decisions," the PCRF said. Photos PCRF
