Namibian nominations for Worldwide Vets Golden Star Award
Three local environmentalists have been nominated for the Worldwide Vets Golden Star Award.The award recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to animal welfare and wildlife conservation. The nominees are Kelsey Prediger of the Pangolin Conservation & Research Foundation (PCRF), as well as Ulf Tubbesing and Mariska Bijsterbosch of Wildlife Vets. Their nominations ensure strong representation for Namibia on the international stage, and everyone can support them with a vote.
Voting is open until 13 November, and anyone can vote for their favourite nominees on the organisation’s website. Voters may support multiple nominees but only once per individual. The ten finalists will be announced on 14 November, with voting for the overall winner open until 17:00 Central Africa Time on 1 December. The winners will be announced on 5 December 2025.
Now in its fourth year, the award is presented by the international animal welfare organisation Worldwide Vets. Registered in the United Kingdom, with administrative headquarters near London, the organisation is also registered as a non-profit in the United States.
“Furthermore, we operate globally to promote better animal welfare,” the organisation states. “We work across South America, North America, Africa, Asia, and Europe, in many countries where animals need help, including Egypt, Thailand, India, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Namibia, Peru, Costa Rica, and Ukraine.”
