After a record year, entries for this year's Rough & Tough Rally are open until 27 April.
This popular rally for lovers of old cars in support of the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN) takes place from 16 to 19 May this year. Last year, 280 people in 78 cars with 35 support vehicles travelled through Damaraland in style.
The Rough & Tough Rally requires that participating vehicles must have been manufactured before 1990 and that the original value of the car must not exceed N$35 000. Every car must also be able to drive at least 300 km on a single tank of fuel.
The Rough & Tough Rally has raised more than N$3 million in support of CAN since 2018, with a record high of N$1.1 million last year.
CAN CEO Rolf Hansen said at the opening of their new palliative care unit in the capital last Friday that this unit was mainly made possible with funds raised by the Rough 'n Tough Rally.
Each year, participants are encouraged to dress up according to a theme and also decorate their cars accordingly. - [email protected]
