The evening promises to honour the voices and stories that make up Namibia’s diverse cultural landscape. The celebration takes place on Tuesday (25 November) at the Namibia Scientific Society at 18:30 for 19:00. Guests are encouraged to wear traditional attire.
On Thursday (27 November) the Namibia Scientific Society hosts the screening of Dreaming of Africa, a 94-minute documentary directed by Stefan Quinth. The film explores the remarkable journeys of Swedish pioneers Charles John Andersson and Axel Eriksson, whose scientific curiosity and adventurous spirit led them deep into the landscapes of present-day Namibia and Botswana.
The documentary begins in Sweden, detailing the story of English adventurer and zoologist Llewellyn Lloyd, whose passion for nature inspired his son Andersson to explore Africa. Through several expeditions, Andersson mapped the region’s wildlife, while Eriksson built trade networks and contributed to natural history collections that remain today.
The screening starts at 19:00. Info: 061 225 372, [email protected] or visit www.namscience.com.
