Applause, applause, full speed ahead!
With this motto, the Windhoek Carnival Association (WIKA) began the 70th carnival session last night.
With the Royal Ball at the Sports Club Windhoek (SKW), which traditionally gives the floor to jesters, the secret about the new royal couple was also revealed. In 2024, Prince Norbert the 1st, the passionate carnival worm (Wurm) and his beautiful princess Svenja the 1st, will lead the capital's revellers through the session until the sweepstakes on April 14th.
This evening WIKA continues at 19:11 with the Prunksitzung. A highlight of the evening is the performance of the Cologne music group “Die Höhner”, which was founded in 1972 and will appear on the WIKA stage for the first time.
The German party pop singer and solo entertainer Peter Wackel will also make an appearance. On Saturday, WIKA invites everyone to the annual street parade, starting at 11:11. Thereafter a beer festival follows at the SKW. The children's carnival (KikaWi 11:11) takes place on Sunday.
The fun continues on Wednesday with the men's and ladies' night along with the masked ball (HeDaMa) as from 19:33..
With the first and second international evenings (both at 19:11), the carnivalists enter the home stretch on Thursday and Friday. Saturday is dedicated to the youth with JuKa (20:11), before Sunday brings the carnival hustle and bustle to an end with the Kehraus at 11:11. All indoor events take place at SKW.
