Windhoek catches the Christmas spirit

Christmas markets are a delightful occasion on Windhoek’s events calendar, and the market hosted by the municipality this weekend doesn’t just attract jobs and activities, but also visitors to the local economy.
For this market, the Zoo Park, sections of Post Street Mall, and the area along Independence Avenue between Daniel Munamava and Fidel Castro Streets will be transformed into a bustling, temporary street-front retail space for SMEs, corporates and State-Owned Enterprises (SOE). The city’s best food, artists, and craft makers will grace the Market to provide shoppers with a welcome change of scenery from the high street, with pop-up stalls, all in a relaxed, lively, and spacious outdoor environment.
Also, participating enterprises along with up-and-coming artists have the opportunity to promote their unique, local products and services, network with peers, and explore opportunities to innovate, grow, and increase their value propositions.
The market coincides with the annual switching on of the city’s Christmas street lights by the capital’s mayor.
This is the perfect opportunity to discover bespoke creations, creative gift ideas and delicious treats locally made with Namibian pride.
The market takes place on 8 and 9 December from 09:00 to 22:00, and ends with Carols by Candlelight on Sunday evening.
