Law: Candidate legal practitioner
Joviita Ndeenda-Elago Kandjumbwa is a candidate legal practitioner working towards getting her admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court of Namibia. She works in the legal sectors of criminal and civil litigation, and admitted that she has learnt a lot about these two areas in the last 18 months. Having been fortunate to receive excellent guidance throughout her journey as a candidate legal practitioner, she has developed a strong passion for civil litigation, she said. This includes learning the case management system, handling a variety of issues - including prescription, delict claims and contract breaches - and filing various pleadings.
"Aside from going through the legal process, I enjoy resolving disputes outside of court." Typically, this is accomplished through court-connected mediation, which allows parties to reach an agreement rather than dragging out a protracted trial process, she explained.
To thrive in the field of law, it is beneficial to have a genuine interest in and passion for certain aspects of the profession, she advised.
