It gives me great pleasure to pen the foreword for this Namibia Mining Expo magazine – an important platform that not only showcases the dynamic developments within our mining sector but also facilitates critical dialogue and partnerships across the entire value chain.
Namibia's mining industry remains one of the cornerstones of our national economy. It contributes significantly to GDP, foreign exchange earnings, and employment creation while serving as a key enabler for industrialisation and regional development.

From our world-class uranium and diamond deposits to the growing potential in rare earth elements, lithium, copper, and graphite, Namibia is richly endowed with mineral wealth that is vital for the global transition to a greener and more technologically advanced future.

Under the leadership of Her Excellency the President, Dr Netumbo Nandi Ndaitwah and through the ministry's strategic vision, we are committed to ensuring that Namibla's mineral resources are developed in a sustainable, inclusive, and transformative manner.

We have embarked on reforms of the legislative framework to enhance transparency, promote local content and beneficiation, as well as attract responsible investment. At the same time, we are strengthening environmental stewardship and community engagement, in line with the best practices in Africa and the world.

This year's Mining Expo comes at a defining moment, as Namlbla positions itself as a competitive and responsible supplier of critical raw materials to global markets. The emerging opportunities in green hydrogen, battery minerals, and local value addition present us with a unique chance to diversify our economy and secure long-term prosperity for our people.

I invite all participants - investors, operators, regulators, researchers, and communities - to use the Expo not only as a space to exhibit products and services, but as a platform to forge partnerships that will unlock innovation, drive skills development, and promote shared value across the mining landscape.

Together, let us shape a mining sector that reflects the aspirations of our people and contributes meaningfully to the growth and resilience of Namibia.
