Brave Warriors defeat Comoros on penalties
Namibia’s Brave Warriors secured a morale-boosting victory on Saturday, defeating Comoros 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw in their final match of the FIFA Series in Kazakhstan.
The result marks Namibia’s first win of the tournament and a positive way to conclude their group-stage campaign.
Despite both sides creating opportunities during regulation time, neither team managed to find the breakthrough, forcing the match into a penalty shootout. The Brave Warriors held their nerve from the spot to edge Comoros and claim the win.
Namibia has now completed its fixtures in the group, while hosts Kazakhstan and Morocco are still set to face off to determine the group winner.
The 2026 FIFA Series was designed to feature 48 teams across 12 groups worldwide, with each host nation staging a four-team mini-tournament. Namibia had initially been drawn alongside Kazakhstan, Comoros and Kuwait, with all matches organised under the Kazakhstan Football Federation.
However, Kuwait withdrew from the group due to unrest in the Middle East, leaving three teams to compete.
Each nation was scheduled to play two official ‘A’ international matches, with fixtures structured to maximise competitive balance. While a group winner may be declared, the tournament primarily serves as a platform for preparation, development and international exposure.
Crucially, all matches contribute to the FIFA World Rankings, offering teams an opportunity to improve their global standing.
The victory also represents a significant turnaround for Namibia, who had struggled in recent outings, including back-to-back defeats against Comoros in November 2025 and losses in World Cup qualifiers against Tunisia and Liberia.
