#LoveYourEyes

Celebrating World Sight Day
World Sight Day takes place Thursday, 13 October 2022 and on that day the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) focuses the world’s attention on the importance of eye care. In the same vein, the IAPB call on the sector to join them in helping people prioritise their own eye health and leaders to ensure eye care is accessible, inclusive and affordable to everyone, everywhere.
The World Health Organisation’s World Report on Vision and the UN Resolution on Vision have cemented eye health as critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. However, change doesn’t just happen in high office.
Nearly everyone on the planet will experience an eye health issue in their lifetime, however, more than a billion people worldwide do not have access to the services they need to see clearly.
The IAPB’s Love Your Eyes campaign encourages individuals to prioritise their own eye health whilst advocating for accessible, affordable and available eye care the world over.
World Sight Day is an opportunity to focus the world’s attention on eye health as a global issue; raise awareness of eye health amongst individuals, families and communities; serves as a platform to influence decision-makers to prioritise eye health initiatives; and helps to activate demand for eye health services globally.
World Sight Day is coordinated by IAPB and supported by almost 200 IAPB Member organisations globally.
Following a hugely successful World Sight Day 2021, the #LoveYourEyes campaign returns for World Sight Day 2022. Working together, the IAPB hopes to have five million sight tests pledged, host screenings in the most influential offices in the world, and show everyone how to #LoveYourEyes with their fun and engaging social assets.
