N$1.5m medical equipment for MoHSS

Non-profit organisation Support Ulm e.V. and the Haussler Group, both based in Ulm, Germany, donated medical equipment worth N$1.5 million to the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS).
The donation was handed over by Ohorongo Cement’s logistics manager Sion Amalovu, to health minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula earlier today.
Amalovu said that the donation was specifically aimed at improving medical services within the ministry to fulfil its obligation of providing basic health needs towards Namibians.
“I am happy to confirm that, since the establishment of the partnership between Support Ulm e.V, the MoHSS and Ohorongo Cement in 2009, we have spent over N$77 million supporting several social projects. Of this amount, N$64.8 million has been used for medical supplies and equipment, including today’s donation,” Amalovu said.
He thanked Blaauw’s Transport, a valuable CSI partner of Ohorongo Cement, for donating transportation and logistical services for the medical equipment from the Walvis Bay port to Windhoek.
In his acceptance remarks, Shangula said that the donation will go a long way in improving service delivery to patients and clients who seek medical care in health facilities across the country.
“Support Ulm e.V and Ohorongo Cement have become regular supporters of our health sector over the past three years, making several valuable donations to the ministry,” Shangula said.
