N$1bn mobilised for Windhoek hospital
The government has mobilised N$1 billion through the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) to support the development of the planned 500-bed Windhoek District Hospital. The funding was highlighted in the Ministry of Finance’s FY2026/27 Mid-Year Budget Review Statement, presented by Finance Minister Ericah Shafudah on 22 October 2026.

The budget review also outlined other healthcare initiatives, including the recruitment of 1537 health personnel and 456 medical interns. In addition, the government reported the commissioning of an MRI scanner to strengthen diagnostic services. The Motor Vehicle Accident Fund also provided medical equipment valued at N$19 million to Katutura State Hospital and Onandjokwe State Hospital.
