Thousands for children with cancer

The Organisation for the Support of Parents of Children Diagnosed with Cancer (NaCCaPSO) handed N$75 000 to the Namibian Oncology Center to improve the well-being and treatment of children diagnosed with cancer and who are state patients.
The money that will be managed by the center, will also be used to support parents and projects, and promote awareness of childhood cancer in Namibia.
NaCCaPSO aims to support children, parents and family members of children diagnosed with cancer. The charity, which has been operating from Ward 8 West in the Windhoek Central Hospital since 2009, empowers parents and family members through educational programs to better understand the child patients' illness.
NaCCaPSO sponsors volunteer teachers at the hospital school, sponsored a play park at the CHICA home and also donated sewing machines to the occupational therapy department where mothers learn sewing skills, as well as receive training in knitting and beadwork.
