Roads Authority managing director Conrad Lutombi opened an 11km section of the road from Windhoek to Okahandja earlier this week.
The public can now use the Omakunde and Gross Barmen connection points.
According to Lutombi, the partially completed road construction project is currently at 87 per cent. After the completion of the 11 km section from Omakunde to Okahandja, which leads to the Omakunde-Gross Barmen junction, it was felt that it made sense to open the road to motorists.
The project, worth N$997 million, is scheduled to be completed in March 2024. The project was launched in 2016 and creates over 300 jobs. To date, N$741 million has been spent.
