Construction of the new American embassy in Klein Windhoek seems to be reaching an end after the construction crane, that towered over area for many months, was loaded onto trucks yesterday. According to information, the architect was inspired by the Kalahari when designing the embassy building. As construction began, there was a media outcry when protected trees were indiscriminately cut down. However, the ambassador at the time, Lisa Johnson, promised that the trees would all be replaced and numerous Namibian trees would be planted. Photos Frank Steffen
