Windhoek, Berlin commemorate 25 years of collaboration

A delegation from Berlin visited Windhoek to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the long-standing city partnership between the two capitals.
Leading the delegation is Cornelia Seibeld, President of the Berlin House of Representatives.
To commemorate the occasion, a special reception was hosted by the German Ambassador at his residence in Windhoek earlier this week.
Reflecting on the milestone, Seibeld said: “Since 6 July 2000 – the day our city partnership began – Berlin and Windhoek have been learning from and supporting one another. The purpose of our visit is to connect more deeply with the people of Windhoek and better understand the city's structure and dynamics. It’s inspiring to see how joint initiatives, like those supporting local entrepreneurs, are delivering real benefits on the ground.”
During their visit, the delegation toured several key community and development projects, including the Capture Project Semi Mall, Bokamoso Entrepreneurial Centre, Riverheights Football Academy, the Independence Memorial Museum, and the Creative Industry Institute Africa (CIIA).
In a moment of remembrance, Seibeld also laid a wreath at the Genocide Memorial, paying tribute to the victims of the genocide against the Herero and Nama peoples during Germany’s colonial rule.
